Camberley Town (2) 3 Farnham Town (1) 3
7th September 2005 : Allied Counties League South Division

Camberley opened up their Allied Counties League campaign with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Farnham Town at Krooner Park.

Camberley got straight into their game from the start and almost opened the scoring after just 8 minutes when Dean Frampton drove a cross in from the left wing and the covering defender volleyed the clearance only a couple of inches wide of his own post. Camberley's early pressure paid dividends on 12 minutes  when the ball was threaded through the heart of the Farnham defence and into the path of Graham Townsend who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper and into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Farnham hit back with a couple of chances. The best being a direct free kick that sailed over both defensive wall and crossbar before they got the equaliser they were looking for on the half hour. The scores did not stay level for too long as Camberley regained the lead in the 38th minute  when a flick through found Dean Frampton who calmly slotted the ball home.

Things were to get better for Camberley as they stretched the lead to 3-1 after just three minutes of the second half with the best goal of the game. A neat two man move down the right wing resulted in a cross which found Graham Townsend who struck a powerful first touch effort past the keeper who was rooted to the spot with no time to react.

Just as it looked as if Camberley would record their first win over Farnham for a couple of years, the visitors hit back with two goals in the space of five minutes. The first on 68 minutes a low precise shot that gave Gary Phillips in the Camberley goal little chance. The second came on 73 minutes with a shot on the turn from the edge of the penalty area that curled in at the left post.

Both sides went looking for the win with the visitors having the better of the play but both defences held firm to secure a 3-3 draw.
