After not conceding a goal in the previous four qualifying rounds, Camberley found themselves a goal down inside a minute as they made their exit from the F.A. Youth Cup to a quality Millwall side. In a hard fought and pretty even match the well drilled and well established Thatcham team came out on top. Both teams started brightly and it was on the  half hour that Thatcham got their first. Camberley attacked hard and had a number of chances to level and a Kirk Buttle effort was parried by the keeper onto the bar and out. Camberley continued attacking in the second half and also continued to try players out in different positions. On the hour Thatcham got their second but 5 minutes later Nick Brand hit a screamer from the left straight past the keeper. It could easily have been a lot more goals had it not been for an outstanding performance from the Bedfont keeper

Tuesday, August 14th 2007

Thrilling first half to a match that saw Camberley Town's 1st Team go top of the table for at least 24 hours. After going a goal down mid-way through the first half Camberley Town U-18 Southern Youth League side regrouped and battled hard and perhaps didn't deserve to come off at half time a goal down. The second half saw Camberley take the game to Whitchurch and during a dominant spell, midway through the second half the equaliser was scored by Stuart Alexander and shortly after, the winning goal was scored by Gareth Slade (returning to his old club!!). Thanks go to Rod Alexander for the match details

Sunday, August 12th 2007

Camberley Town's U-18 Allied Counties League side were in action this afternoon. It was a good competitive game that Camberley dominated for long spells, resulting in a well worked goal when Josh Wood drove a low hard cross into the six yard box from the left for Andy Yates to score from close in. But for one lapse in defensive concentration which lead to a cheap goal from a corner, the win would have been just reward for some very good play. Thanks to Andy North for the details

Saturday, August 4th 2007

Camberley started well in this friendly and could, maybe even should have gone two or three up in the opening 25 minutes but could not finish their chances. Matters were not helped when midway through the second half, Camberley lost the services of Alex Jeffers with a kick in the face that saw one of his teeth kicked completely out. Camberley took the lead early in the second half following a well worked corner that saw John Finnieston fire home from six yards. It was quite a competitive game for a pre-season friendly against our friends from Bracknell. Camberley had the better of the first half and took the lead in the first half when Alex Jeffers played in Adam Crittenden, who was making his first appearance in a Camberley shirt, to score. Bracknell were on level terms five minutes later when Camberley gifted them an equaliser following a rash challenge from keeper Carl Clayton and they converted the spot kick. Bracknell shaded the second half but could not get a winner. A good run out for both sides

Manager Paul Barry has recently made some impressive signings that will strengthen an already strong squad increasing competition for places all over the pitch.  Joining the already secured Darren Barnard are ex Woking and Farnborough keeper Liam Stone, Jason Short from Badshot Lea, Tom Bird from Chelsea, Joe Paris from Kingstonian, James Ashcroft from Walton Casuals, Jamie Brand from TNS, Toby Jannaway from local football and returning to Krooner Park after spells with AFC Wimbledon and Kingstonian among others is Julian Sills (pictured left). The 31 year old will add his experience to a very young squad, and his proven ability at higher levels will help the Krooners immensely this season. In addition to these Paul Barry is hoping to tie up another centre forward and left sided player in the next few days to finalise his squad for the coming season.

Zak Stafford's free kick from the edge of the penalty area hit the post and Steve Smith slotted home from close in, 2 minutes from the end

Sunday, July 29th 2007

The Allied Counties (ACL) Under 18 side started the Arsenal Tournament with a slightly disappointing 0-0 draw with Lodden Valley. It was a very different squad to Thursday, with several players just back from holiday and not up to fitness levels of others yet. The 0-0 result is OK in the context of the tournament as Lodden beat Hillingdon yesterday, who we play tomorrow, Thanks to Andy North for the details. The Allied Counties side have also added a few friendlies to their fixture list. They are all away from home against Ashford (Aug 12), Aylesbury Vale (Aug15) and Uxbridge (Aug 22)

An understrength 1st XI travelled the long distance to Herefordshire to take on Hellenic Premier Division side Pegasus Juniors. With just a 14 man squad including team manager Paul Barry and coach Neil Woodyer, Camberley had a few early opportunities to open the scoring but could not convert them. Pegasus opened the scoring early in the second half and added a second ten minutes later. Camberley went closest through Paul Barry himself, when he hit the post and had another shot scrambled away by the keeper.

Thursday, July 26th 2007

The Allied Counties Under 18 side warmed up for the Arsenal Tournament with a 3-0 victory over an Australian Under 19 XI at the Royal Holloway College at Egham. A useful first competitive match for the team, played in thirds to allow 3 team combinations to be used. A good performance that got stronger as the match went on as the communication and understanding developed. The first goal came from an interchange of passes in midfield between Jack Keenan and Chris Roderick, who moved the ball on to Josh Scriven on the right of the penalty box and continued his run for Josh to return the pass into the penalty area for Chris to volley the ball home. The second goal came from Alex Brown with a 25 yard strike from midfield into the top corner of the net and the last came when Andy Yates reacted to a quick free kick from Chris Roderick to score from close in. A very good start from all the players ahead of the Arsenal Tournament this week. Thanks to Andy North for the details

Tuesday, July 24th 2007

A disappointing opening 25 minutes saw Camberley slip to a 3-0 defeat in a competitive friendly at Staines Lammas at their ground in Laleham. Camberley used a 19 man squad for the game. Well taken goals on 6 11 and 21 minutes saw Staines Lammas open a 3-0 lead. Despite the scoreline it was a fairly even match but it goes to prove that there is still some work to do if we want a good start and cup run this season

Saturday, July 21st 2007

Camberley started the pre-season campaign today with a friendly at Chichester City United. With several of last season's regulars absent (Finnieston, Hoppit and McGarry on holiday, Jeffers and Williams ill) and Darren Barnard playing in the Masters Tournament at Wembley for Chelsea, the remainder of the squad were looking for a good run out after four weeks training. With the emphasis on performance rather than result, Manager Paul Barry and coach Neil Woodyer came away happy with both performance and fitness levels. A trial match of three half hour periods was held at Krooner Park this afternoon which gave new Director of Football Darren Barnard and 1st Team Manager Paul Barry a good chance to look over new and old players before the pre-season friendlies start. The two sides, the Yellows and the Reds were evenly matched for most of the play in the first two periods but the Yellows featuring two thirds of last seasons front partnership were more clinical up front. The final half hour period saw the teams changed round with the Yellows fielding the majority of the 1st team squad. The result was not improtant, what was learnt, was. Mitch Whlie and Paul Dadson scored in the first period, Alex Jeffers and an own goal from Dan Ker saw another two goals in the second period. David Hancock, Mitch While and Alex Jeffers scored in the third period as the Yellows scored seven without reply

Thursday, July 5th 2007

There have been a couple of changes in the pre-season friendlies. The vacant date on August 4th has been provisionally filled with a home friendly against Windsor & Eton. Kick off is at 3pm. This is dependant on the situation at Edgware Town, who Windsor were due to play that day. Unfortunately, the friendly up  in Manchester against Prestwich Heys has had to be called off. The match had been arranged through their 1st team manager Adie Moran, who recently died in a swimming pool accident while on holiday in Sri Lanka. Our sympathies go out to his family and Prestwich Heys FC. Both clubs are looking to reschedule the fixture at a later date. A replacement friendly has yet to be arranged.

In order to cut down the wear and tear on the Krooner Park pitch, Camberley Town have secured a deal that will see the club use the top quality training facilities at nearby Gibraltar Barracks for the forthcoming season, which includes pitches, astroturf, gymnasium and swimming pool. Camberley start their pre-season training this coming Tuesday, meeting at Krooner Park at 7pm before going on to Watchetts Rec. which is where the club will train until the start of the season. Once the season has started, training will switch to Gibraltar Barracks. The funds to pay for the facilities have been raised through a Corprate Golf Day, which the club hope will become an annual event..

The pre-season 1st team friendly at Bedfont has been cancelled due to their almost certain reprieve back into the Premier Division. No decision has yet been made about the Reserves friendly there yet despite the fact that both sides have been placed in the North Division of the Suburban League for next season

Despite requesting a preference to remain in the Southern Division, Camberley Town have been placed in the Northern Division of the Suburban League 2007/08 following the League's AGM. The constitution of the division is as follows.

AFC Hayes (formerly Brook House), Ash United, Bedfont, Berkhamsted Town, Boreham Wood, Camberley Town, Chalfont St Peter, Dunstable, Edgware, Newport Pagnell, North Greenford United, Potters Bar Town, Ruislip Manor, Sandhurst Town, Wingate & Finchley

Camberley Town have been drawn away to Salisbury City in the 1st Round of the Suburban League Cup. The winners will be rewarded with a home tie in the 2nd Round against Beaconsfield SYCOB. .

The provisional constitution of the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division has also altered over the past few weeks. Corinthian Casuals were the first side to be given a reprieve due to the knock on effects following the merger of Hayes & Yeading. Godalming Town have also been given a reprieve from relegation following New Milton Town's (formerly Lymington & New Milton) voluntary demotion to step 5 and the Wessex League. The constitution now looks the same as last season as Guildford City and Bedfont will gain  a reprieve from relegation and the only change looks to be Hporley Town coming in from Division 1 to replace champions Chipstead. The League's AGM is on June 21st

The club are currently looking for volunteers to help with the matchday operations at Camberley Town FC.  Both opportunities may suit someone with spare time both on Saturday afternoons and the odd hour during the week.  We are currently looking for a matchday physio to complete the management team for the 1st Team.  The duties will include recognizing and treating on the pitch injuries, as well as work before kick off to help the players prepare.

Secondly we are currently looking for an individual to get involved at Krooner Park with the sole responsibility of maintaining kit and equipment.  Both positions are currently unpaid, but you will get free entry to all games, and get to see a good standard of football at a Family orientated club who are looking to progress in all areas.
If either of these are of interest or you feel you would like to help the club in other ways, you may have a skill that will benefit us and yourself then please contact 1st Team Manager Paul Barry on 07810770514.

Pre Season training at Camberley Town starts next Tuesday evening, June 19th. All players welcome. Meet at the Krooner Park clubhouse at 7 p.m.

Monday, June 4th 2007

There have been couple of amendments to the pre-season friendly list. The date for the opening friendly against Chichester City United has moved from July 14th to July 21st. On Tuesday, July 24th we have added a fixture. The first team travel to take on Staines Lammas at 7pm. The Rayners Lane fixtures on August 4th have been cancelled and we now take on Bedfont in their place. The reason for this being that the Rayners Lane manager has left the club and has been appointed as Bedfont's new manager. One further fixture has been added for the first team which is on Monday, August 6th when we entertain the newly formed Hayes & Yeading FC. There is also a new fixture for the Reserves who will take on Uxbridge Reserves at home on Monday, August 13th
