It’s been a very busy season, but Mick
Horler and Camberley Town Football Club supporters still managed
to raise a staggering
£
1,000
for the
‘Help
For Heroes’
charity.
A cheque was presented to Brigadier Neil Baverstock, Commander
of 145 (South) Brigade,
on Saturday 24th
April just before the final home match of the season against
Croydon.
145 (South) Brigade is responsible for providing regional
support to some 21,000 military personnel and their families in
17 Garrisons and Stations spread across the 4 counties of
Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire.
James Burns of the
Help
For Heroes
charity was also present and explained how they use the money
raised.
Set up in 2007,
Help
For Heroes
has ensured our injured soldiers are well cared for on their
return from duty, with the aim to return all service personnel
who have been injured or are seriously ill to full fitness. The
Headley Court Centre is the Defence Services Medical
Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) and
Help
For Heroes
has funded the additional facilities required, including a full
sized swimming pool.
Further rehabilitating facilities are still required and the
fundraising efforts continue. The
Brigadier was able to watch Camberley winning against Croydon
2-1 in their last home match of their successful season, as well
as share a supportive drink at the bar with Club Chairman Ronnie
Wilson.
