Saturday, December 17th 2005

Camberley went close to gaining all three points in the final league game of 2005 at Krooner Park. After an even first half, Camberley took the lead in the 71st minute through Chris Shearer. The lead lasted just six minutes though. Camberley had several chances to close down a Kingsbury attack down the right wing but were unable to do so. The result being a deflection off Chris Foster into his own net following a driven cross.

Camberley Reserves got on the scoresheet twice at bottom side Godalming Town but it was not enough as the hosts ran out 4-2 winners. Camberley had the better of the game but it did not reflect in the scoreline.

Tuesday, December 13th 2005

Camberley Tpown suffered another defeat on the road when they lost 2-0 at Chalfont St Peter. Chalfont opened the scoring after just five minutes with their first attempt on goal. A shot from 20 yards that went past an unsighted Chris Foster in the Camberley goal. Camberly then had a good period of play and looked the better side up to the break and went close with an effort against the Chalfont post. Chalfont secured all three points in the second half following a defensive error.

Saturday, December 10th 2005

An improved performance but Camberley still suffered defeat on their travels. Camberley had a great chance in the 1st minute to take the lead but Sam Rafique missed the target. Flackwell hit back and took the lead inside ten minutes and dominated the early exchanges. It all got too much for Mark Cione who walked off after 13 minutes and it looks as if he has played his last game for the club. After being 1-0 up at the break, Flackwell went on to open a three goal lead in the second half before Camberley started a fight back. Martyn Williams and Karol Derewenko pulled the score back to 3-2 but despite Camberley's efforts to get the equaliser, Flackwell held on for the points.

The poor first half for the reserves gave them an uphill task in the second half. Camberley reserves found themselves 5-0 down at the break but a much improved second half saw no further goals scores. With the majority of the Camberley side composed of the Allied Counties youth side, Corinthian Casuals strength told as they ran out 5-0 winners.

Wednesday, December 7th 2005

Camberley took on Alton this evening in the Allied Counties League. Graham Townsend gave Camberley the lead inside the opening ten minutes and Drew King made it two, ten minutes before the break. Drew King struck again on 46 minutes to make it 3-0 and just before the hour, he completed his hat-trick. Alton pulled on back on 66 minutes when a sliding tackle that easily won the ball was deemed dangerous by the referee as the torrential rain had by now made it very slippery. Four minutes later the referee decided  that the conditions had become too dangerous and abandoned the match with Camberley leading 4-1. The Allied Counties League panel will now decide whether the result stands or if the game has to be replayed.                      .

Camberley's Allied Counties League squad maintained their fourth place spot in the South Division after a 1-1 draw at local rivals Ash United thanks to a David Hancock goal. There was an added competitive edge to this match as the Ash side contained a number of players who were with our Allied Counties side last season

Saturday, November 26th 2005

Despite a good performance. Camberley were beaten 2-0 at Brook House. Papali gave the hosts the lead on 11 minutes after a clearance rebounded into the path of Papali and he tucked the ball home. The hosts had to wait until the 90th minute to make sure of the win with a glancing header from a corner. With Wembley winning at home to Epsom & Ewell, Camberley hit bottom spot again.

The reserves were without a game today after the AFC Wimbledon match was called off in the week after the league were notified of building alterations to the referee's room which have to be carried out before the next Ryman League match..

Thursday, November 24th 2005

After persuasion from the likes of Eric Howard and Mick Hatton, Peter Millington-Lee has made his almost annual return to Krooner Park. He will be in the squad that Koo Dumbuya takes to Brook House this weekend. If our calculations are correct, this is the start of his fourth spell at the club since 1998.If he plays at the weekend, it will be his 95th appearance for the club.

Binfield's Under-18 Allied Counties League side arrived at Krooner with a 100% record (8 wins out of 8) and looking for a ninth. Camberley had an outstanding game fitting their opponents for six and Binfield performance can be best described as 'a bad day at the office'. Graham Townsend struck a first half hat-trick as Camberley ran riot. He added two more in the second half, taking his personal match total to five. Rob Clark scored the other goal as Camberley moved up into fourth in the table with the 6-0 win.

Camberley will play Bentley in the next round. Venue and date to be decided.

Saturday, November 19th 2005

Camberley got a good start, scoring after just two minutes when player manager Koo Dumbuya stabbed home from close range, but Chertsey Town gained revenge for the Surrey Senior Cup defeat when they equalised after 5 minutes through Limbrick and then a goal in each half from the stylish John Pomroy (35 and 62 minutes gave Chertsey the win and moves them level at the top with Egham. Egham stay in 1st place on goal difference.

The reserves twice had the lead in their game. Dean Frampton gave Camberley the lead at Merstham and then Luke Tuffs, with his first goal for the club, made it 2-1. Merstham have proved to be a resillient side and after levelling twice the snatched a 3-2 home win with a late goal.

Wednesday, November 16th 2005

Camberley Town's Allied Counties League team got back to winning ways this evening with a 3-1 win over Hungerford Town. The win moves the Allied Counties team up into sixth place in the league table.

Saturday, November 12th 2005

Three goals inside the opening fifteen minutes put paid to any chance of points at Egham today. The hosts scored three times with their first four attempts on goal. Levi Coleman twice and Marriott Lusengo scoring. Camberley then played some good football upto the break and pulled a gosl back through Samir Rafique. Camberley had two good chances in nthe opening few minutes to get back to 3-2 but could not convert them. Egham then added two further goals, both from quick counter attacks to run out comfortable 5-1 winners.

The reserves ended their recent losing run with a creditable 1-1 draw against Horley Town at Krooner Park. The side, largely consisting of Youth team players due to a cold bug doing the rounds at the moment put in a good performance and should have won the match after missing two penalties. Alan White scored the goal

Thursday, November 10th 2005

Gutted... that was the general feeling after Hertford fought back from 2-0 down to snatch a point with the last kick of the match. Camberley took the lead on 10 minutes through a Sam Rafique header and then had a goal disallowed three minutes later when Mark Cione headed home Luke Walkers corner but the corner was deemed to have drifted out of play before reaching Cione. Camberley added a second on 33 minutes when Adam Galvin slotted home Chris Partridge's cross. Paul Evitt pulled one back for Hertford on 70 minutes and Camberley could have settled it on 79 minutes but Hertford keeper Mark Virgo somehow managed to save Sam Rafiques close range shot. Ryan Redford had the last laugh with the final kick of the game forcing the ball home after Foster had pulled off a fine save from a free kick.

Camberley, with a severely depleted squad due to injuries and unavailabilites slipped to their second away defeat running when they lost 2-0 at Walton Casuals. Five players pulled out on the day of the match leaving Camberley with just a squad of 12 men. Two first half injuries effectively left Camberley battling for points with 10 men for most of the game.

Wednesday, November 2nd 2005

One man in and one man out is the story of today. Koo announced today that he has signed Polish striker Karol Derewenko from Staines Town. Staines had five strikers on their books and were willing to let Derewenko go. He had signed for Staines from Wraysbury at the beginning of the season but has played in the Polish League for Polonia Gdansk. Camberley though have also lost a player. Central Defender Aaron Nowacki who joined us in September has joined a growing ex-Camberley contingent at Molesey which includes Steve Wilmore and Russell Pym.

Tuesday, November 1st 2005

Camberley survive a nervous final few minutes as Chertsey fought back from 3-0 down to almost take the game into extra time. Luke Walker, a former Chertsey player gave Camberley the lead with a direct free kick on 33 minutes and then added his and Camberley's second just before the break with a well taken finish. Sam Rafique made it 3-0 on 53 minutes, latching on to a loose ball in the penalty area. Chertsey's fight back started on 80 minutes when George Helsdown headed home from a corner and Scott Wadge made it 3-2 on 88 minutes. Camberley held firm for the final few minutes to earn an away tie  at Woking in the third round.

Camberley Under 18's slipped to their second defeat in a row when they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Larges Lanes against Bracknell this evening.

Saturday, October 29th 2005

Like the Under 18's,just three day's before, the Reserves lost their unbeaten home record with a harsh 4-1 defeat at the hand's of Merstham. Merstham had the better of the opening twenty minutes and Camberley, the better of the last twenty minutes of the first half. Against the run of play Merstham took the lead on 45 minutes when a free kick deflected of a shoulder to send keeper Dean Allen the wrong way. Worse was to follow as Camberley conceded a second before the half time whistle. Jason Short pulled a goal back with a thunderous free kick but Merstham regained the two goal lead soon after thanks to an illegal use of the arm to force the ball home. A fourth was added late on by the visitors to clinch a 4-1 win.

Wednesday, October 26th 2005

Camberley Town U-18's succumbed to second half pressure from Thatcham Town to slip to their first home defeat of the Allied Counties League season. Alan White gave Camberley an early lead after just 5 minutes but Thatcham hit back to level things on 11 minutes. A spectacular effort from Drew King restored the lead and saw Camberley go in at half time with that 2-1 lead. Thatcham came out fighting in the second half and by the hour mark, led by 3-2. Heads dropped as the game neared it's conclusion and with two minutes remaining Thatcham put the game beyond doubt with a fourth goal.

Tuesday, October 25th 2005

Unfortunately there was no repeat of the previous meeting between the two sides when a 0-0 draw was the outcome. Dorking opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Paul Dadson slipped in the penalty area and inadvertently took out the Dorking striker in the penalty area. Lee Smith converted from the spot. Camberley matched their opponents for most of the first half until Dorking extended their lead through a Craig Duffell header just before the break. Dorking added a third in the final minute when Kevin Burgess stabbed the ball hoem from close range.

Saturday, October 22nd 2005

Camberley moved off the bottom of the Ryman Division Two table with a 2-1 win over Edgware at Krooner Park. After a goal less first half Camberley opened the scoring on 72 minutes through Martyn Williams who had only been on the pitch ninety seconds. Stuart Blackburne, league division's top scorer so far this season levelled things on 81 minutes but Luke Walker sealed the win for Camberley after firing home Chris Shearer's inch perfect pass.

Camberley's undefeated league record ended with the other undefeated side, Three Bridges, subjecting us to our first defeat. Camberley put in a good performance but goals from Danny Harrison and Sean Watson were not enough as Three Bridges rattled in four in reply. One quote that did come from the opposition was that we were one of the best sides they have met this season.

Wednesday, October 19th 2005

Camberley's Under 18's were knocked out of the Hampshire Floodlit Youth Cup this evening by a strong Basingstoke side after taking the match to penalties. The match was late kicking off due to a missing match official. Basingstoke opened the scoring after 12 minutes through James Wilkinson and extended it on 52 minutes when Wilkinson added his second of the game. Camberley fought back and Dean Frampton reduced the arrears on 63 minutes and Drew King leveled the scores from a free kick after the Basingstoke keeper was sent off for hand ball outside the penalty area. Due to the late start extra time was not played and the game went straight to penalties which Basingstoke won 4-2. Dean Frampton and Harry Oakley converting their penalties. As extra time was not played their is a possibility that the Hampshire F.A. may order the match to be replayed

Tuesday, October 18th 2005

Camberley can consider themselves unlucky not to have achieved a share of the points in the Associate Members Trophy after matching unbeaten Croydon in most areas of the pitch. The winner came on 72 minutes following hesitation by keeper Chris Foster which allowed Jason Henry to reach the ball through. Foster collided with Henry moments after to concede a penalty. Tim Murdoch stepped up to convert at the second attempt. The first being ruled out for encroachment.

Saturday, October 15th 2005

Camberley went to Wembley in fairly confident mood but conceded after just three minutes when Paul Shelton put Wembley ahead. Neither side really got on top in what was a poor game but Camberley did have their chances to level the score but the game was put out of reach with two minutes to go after Joel Petrie doubled the home sides score from the penalty spot

The reserves performed much better and we well worth their point gained against second placed Eastleigh. Eastleigh had the better of the chances but it was Camberley who could have taken all three points near the end when Jamie Morris beat the offside trap but the bounce of the ball allowed a last ditch saving tackle to deny him the chance. Final score 0-0

Wednesday, October 12th 2005

The Under 18's picked up their first win of the league season with a comfortable 3-0 win at Krooner Park over AFC Newbury. Craig Berry, Dean Frampton and David Hancock were on target as Camberley moved up into 5th place in the table.

Saturday, October 8th 2005

Camberley picked up their first Ryman League point of the season with a 0-0 draw against Dorking at Krooner Park. Both sides had chances but neither could score with the away side having the clearer of them. A draw though was probably the right result considering the amount of possession both sides had.

The league match against Chalfont St Peter which is scheduled for October 29th is off due to Chalfont's participation in the F.A. Vase.

Wednesday, October 5th 2005

Camberley's 1st XI suffered another defeat this time at home at the hands of Flackwell Heath. Flackwell opened up a two goal lead before Luke Walker hit back with a quality strike two minutes before the break. Camberley had the upper hand in the second half and looked the more likely side to score again until on 79 minutes Dan Ker was sent off for stamping and two minutes later, Jason Short followed him after a mistimed tackle. Sunday, September 25th 2005

Cray Wanderers emerged victorious at Bromley but only after Camberley gave them a fright. Luke Walker had on of his best games for Camberley, almost scoring in the first minute, scoring our goal in the second half and then having one disallowed near the end. Cray opened the scoring on 6 minutes after Camberley had twice gone close and extended their lead early in the second half. Luke Walker scored to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Camberley twice went close to equalising in the 78th and 80th minutes before Cray hit two goals in as many minutes to pput the tie beyond reach

Saturday, September 24th 2005

Camberley made it four matches without defeat in the Suburban League Southern Division following their 1-1 draw at home to Godalming. The first half was an even affair after Godalming had taken the lead 6 minutes into the game. The second half saw Camberley hit back and level things when Sam Rafique controlled and fired home from 12 yards. Camberley controlled most of the second half but could not convert any further chances. In fact it needed Alex Bell, making his reserve team debut, to do a repeat of Wednesday night. He saved his second penalty of the week, diving low to his left to pull off a brilliant save from Ross

Final reminder. Coach for the F.A. Cup 2nd Qualifying match at Cray Wanderers, leaves Krooner Park at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning. All spectators welcome. £10 a seat but that may get cheaper, the more who travel.

Despite not playing a league game for weeks, we have climbed another place in the league table. Flackwell Heath's 4-0 win over Wembley today puts Wembley bottom of the table on goal difference. Ware are still below us as well as they did not have a game today

Thursday, September 22nd 2005

Camberley fielding largely a reserve squad took on the British Army National XI at the Military Stadium in the annual friendly between the two sides. It gave manager Koo Dumbuya the opportunity to look at some squad players in preparation for Sunday's F.A. Cup match at Cray Wnderers. In a highly entertaining game which saw both sides have the opportunity to win, the Army clinched the victory with a first half goal. One old Camberley face present watching procedings was ex-Krooner keeper Nigel Wiscombe who now does goalkeeping coaching for both the Army and AFC Newbury

Camberley progressed to the second qualifying round of the F.A. Cup with a 1-0 win over Epsom & Ewell and at the same time avenging the defeat in the Associate Members Trophy at the end of last month. After being on the defensive for long period in the first half, James Reeves stayed up for an attack on 43 minutes and was rewarded with a goal from a well placed header. Early in the second half Camberley also were awarded a penalty which Martyn Williams struck against the post. He converted the rebound, but as no other player had touched the ball, it did not count.  Keep an eye out for the draw at 11a.m. on Monday for our next opponents. REPORT

With Molesey's 1st XI without a game the Reserves were up against stiff  opposition at Molesey for the second leg of the Suburban League Cup 1st Round tie. The reserves did well to hold out well into the second half before Molesey brought three 1st team squad members off the bench to help them to a 3-0 win. Camberley's Boxing Day fixture against Croydon F.C. has been moved and will now take place on Saturday, January 21st with the match kicking off at 3:00pm.

Monday, August 29th 2005

It has come to light that Mile Oak played an ineligible player on Saturday. And we believe Mile Oak have admitted the mistake. It seems that they played a suspended player during their midweek match and again at the weekend. The mistake was discovered by the Sussex F.A. after the Saturday cup tie and they had no option other than notifying the F.A.. As a result, the replay due at Krooner Park on Tuesday night has been called off. Camberley will be forwarded to the next round where Epsom & Ewell will be the visitors here at Krooner Park. The Monday match against Croydon is still off as they have an F.A. Cup replay at Frimley Green.

Saturday, August 27th 2005

Camberley scored their first competitive goal of the season to earn a draw at Mile Oak in the F.A. Cup. The first half performance was below par but picked up in the second half. Mile Oak took the lead three minutes into the second half but Camberley pulled level on 76 minutes with a well struck goal from Ben Cobbett. The result means that the Bank Holiday Monday match with Croydon has been called off and the replay of this match takes place at Krooner Park this coming Tuesday. Kick Off will be at 7:45pm

The Reserves good start to the season continued with a win over Molesey at Krooner Park. Following a close 1st half in which Molesey thought they had taken the lead but for a referee's assistant's flag had gone up to signify offside, Camberley earned themselves three points with substitute David Hancock firing home the winner via the post. Molesey went all out for the equaliser, putting three players up front but Camberley held on for the win.

Wednesday, August 24th 2005

Camberley's Under 18's friendly against Staines Town, due for Krooner Park this evening was called off due to the wet weather

Tuesday, August 23rd 2005

Camberley's disappointing start to the competitive season continued at Krooner Park this evening with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Epsom & Ewell in the Associate Members Trophy. The performance was an improvement on Saturday's against Dorking but a 3-0 defeat was a little harsh. Luke Gay gave the visitors a first half lead when a ball that looked to be going out of play kindly spun into his path and he fired home from close range before Rick McNamara could block. Luke Gay added a second again after a misjudgement of the bounce of the ball. Camberley went forward in an attempt to get back into the game but conceded a third in the final minute through Nick Ktorou.

Monday, August 22nd 2005

September fixtures for the Suburban League were released today. By half way through the month ourselves and Molesey should be sick of the sight of each other. After the home league match on August 27th me meet again at Krooner Park on the 3rd of September in the Suburban League Cup. It is a two legged competition in the first round this season so we travel to Molesey for the second leg on September 10th. On Monday, September 19th, the 2nd XI travel to Merland Rise for the match against Epsom & Ewell. We finish the month at home of Saturday September 24th against Godalming Town.

Saturday, August 20th 2005

Not the start Camberley wanted on the opening day of the competitive season. Camberley had a poor start and found themselves 3-0 after just 20 minutes. After losing Mark Robertson to a recurence of a groin injury on Camberley regrouped and had a couple of chances before the break but seldom looked like breaking the Dorking defence down. Dorking added a fourth with just under 20 minutes to go. Final score 4-0

The Reserves gained a good point at home to Tooting & Mitcham, a side that usually contest for the title. Camberley found themselves a goal up at the break through a Sam Rafique penalty. Tooting hit back strongly in the second half and opened up a 3-1 lead but a spirited fighback saw Sam Rafique add his and Camberley's second and Gavin Brainch poked home the equaliser with just a few minutes to go.

Friday, August 19th 2005

Official conformation of the Surrey Senior Cup draw has now been posted on the Surrey F.A. website. In the 1st Round Camberley have a home draw against Chertsey Town. If we win that game we travel to Woking for a 2nd Round match. Success in that one will see us take on either Tooting & Mitcham United, Frimley Green or Cobham in the 3rd Round

Thursday, August 18th 2005

The Reserves completed their pre-season with an away win at Frimley Green. Camberley found themselves a goal behind after 20 minutes but hit back through James Gordon to go in level at the break. Second half goals from Gavin Brainch and John Sim saw Camberley through to a 3-1 win and make it a good week for all three main Camberley sides. REPORT

Wednesday, August 17th 2005

A fine performance by Camberley's Under 18's saw them gain a 4-1 win at local neighbours Cove. A good first competitive game went better than manager Eric Howard expected. All players played very well with Drew King putting in a man of the match performance. Parien Patel, Dean Frampton, David Hancock and Drew King scored the Camberley goals.

Following his holiday in Australia, Manager Ken Ballard, has had talks with Club Chairman Ian Waldren regarding this coming season. While a number of factors were positive he felt that the funding for next season was insufficient. The club struggled to meet the funding levels last season and this season are looking to implement a more bonus led payment structure for the coming season. The new scheme would have a lower basic budget and a mid table finish would results in the same level of funding as last season once the win and draw bonus is calculated. A successful season would see a budget increase but Ken felt that the lower basic budget would not attract better players to the club and has decided to hand in his resignation.
In his parting statement Ken said "The bonus scheme was a good idea until I realised that the basic budget was going to be cut. I can't attract players like that". Ken, who will still be poping down to the club occasionally added "I hope they do succeed and I wish them all the best". We too wish Ken all the best and hope he remains involved in the local non league curcuit.
