A lot of people went home wondering how Camberley did not manage to win this tie. Lordswood got an early goal and were then restricted to just two chances as Camberley dominated then proceedings. After an even start Lordswood opened the scoring after just 7 minutes with the first goalscoring chance of the match. A neatly worked short corner saw the ball swung in to the Camberley penalty area. As the Camberley defence advanced, looking for the offside decision, Deviz Safer stood his ground and got his head to the ball to divert the ball past Justin Gray as he came out to attempt a punch clear. It sparked Camberley into action as they created a host of chances but the could not find the back of the Lordwood net. On 20 minutes Julian Sills went close to levelling the scores with a goalbound header from a Darren Barnard corner but Alec Osborne was on hand to head the ball off the line. Just after the half hour Danny Ker had a good opportunity with a bending side foot effort but the keeper Rowan Arnott was well placed to comfortably save. On 36 minutes Camberley went close again. Excellent control and pass from Adam Cornell set up John Swift with a chance and he fired inches over the Lordswood crossbar. Within minutes, John Swift was involved again, playing the ball on for Gareth Evans. Evans looked to have been clipped on the ankle by Lordswood's Steve Wade as he attempted his effort but the man in black, referee Dan Berry pointed for a goal kick. In the final five minutes of the first half, Camberley created two more chances with Darren Barnard firing over and then within a minute providing a pin-point free kick for Julian Sills to send a diving header straight into the arms of the Lordswood keeper. The second half started as the first one finished, with Camberley creating the chances and Lordswood defending resolutely. Five minutes into the half, John Swift hit an effort from just outside the penalty area which had the keeper beaten but it went a couple of inches wide of the right hand post. The following attack resulted in another good chance, this time for Adam Cornell who's shot on the turn found the arms of Arnott once again. With Camberley continually pressing, Lordswood always had a chance on the counter attack and could have extended their lead in the 56th minute with Kevin Skinner finding space on the left hand side of the Camberley penalty area. His effort had keeper Justin Gray beaten but lacked accuracy as it flashed across the Camberley goal and wide for a goal kick. It resulted in action from the Camberley bench and a triple substitution was made with Jay Coombs, Joe Paris and Jamie Hoppitt coming on to replace Gareth Evans, Ben Cobbett and John Swift. It took just four minutes for Jamie Hoppitt to get involved in the action with a 62nd minute effort wide of the left post. Three minutes later Camberley went even closer when a Darren Barnard corner caused mayhem in the Lordswood box and Adam Cornell ended up watching his effort come back off the post before being hacked away by a Lordswood defender. Moments later the ball was back into the Lordswood penatly area where Jamie Hoppitt fired wide again. Lordswood threatened again on the break with a good effort from distance by Dave Eldridge. Justin Gray was alert and positioned himself well to save . The charmed life of the Lordswood goal was not to last as in the 74th minute Camberley finally got the equaliser they were looking for. Darren Barnard played a corner short to Ross Chalke who's ball into the penalty area resulted in another scramble for the ball. It broke to Julian Sills on the edge of the six yard box and this time there was no mistake. Oddly enough, once the goal had gone in, Camberley seemed to go into a more relaxed mode instead of pressing on for the winner. An 77th minute effort from the head of Jamie Hoppitt which went just wide of the post and an 88th minute free kick from Darren Barnard that went inches wide of the right hand post with the aid of a deflection were the closest that Camberley came to notching a winner .
