Camberley Town Reserves (0) 2 Ash Rangers (0) 0
2nd May 2007 : Mark Coombs Charity Cup

Both sides had chances to open the scoring in the opening 15 minutes of the match. The two early chances fell to Aldershot & District Sunday League Champions, Ash Rangers both of which went across goal and wide. Camberley's first chance fell to Graham Townsend on 12 minutes which saw him serge through the heart of the Ash defence and toe poke the ball past the keeper, but unfortunately also the wrong side of the post. The only other clear chance of the first half also fell to Graham Townsend on 35 minutes. He turned into the penalty area and fired on target but the Ash Rangers keeper made a fine diving save to his left to parry the ball out for a corner.

Ash Rangers started well in the second half, pinning Camberley back into their own half until the hour mark, but without seriously troubling Kris Hatton in the Camberley goal. Ash Rangers did have two good chances, the first resulting in a weak shot at Hatton after the offside trap was broken and then on 64 minutes, Hatton had to be alert to save at 20 yard effort down to his right. The opening goal we all had been waiting for came in the 69th minute when Matt Chesterman won the ball in defence, sidestepped a challenge and launch a through ball for Graham Townsend. The covering Ash Rangers defender misjudged the bounce of the ball which allowed Townsend through and he lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper and into the back of the net.

Jason Reeves had a chance on 77 minutes to seal the win, running on to a through ball from Graham Townsend, he hit his shot straight at the keeper. Four minutes later Bryan Thompson was put through on the left hand side of the Ash Rangers defence but was unable to keep his shot down. Ash Rangers pushed forward looking for a goal to take the match into extra time and went close with a shot narrowly past the left hand post. In the 1st minute of stoppage time, the result was put beyond doubt when Jason Reeves fired home a cross from 8 yards out
