In the first of three matches in a row against Walton Casuals Camberley put in a good performance but left empty handed as a solitary goal knocked them out of the Surrey Premier Cup at the 1st Round stage
Walton Casuals started at a frantic pace and created two chances in the opening three minutes through Matt Weston and Brad Collins. Camberley's first chance came a minute later when Danny Harrison headed wide of the left post from a corner. Walton Casuals kept up the pace for the opening fifteen minutes with further chances coming for Matt Weston and Theo Coyne. After 20 minutes the game settled down a bit and Camberley came more into it. Just after the 20 minute mark Paul Stevens put in a good cross for Graham Townsend and his dipping header just cleared the crossbar. Camberley had one other good chance before the break when Luke Smith took down a crossfield ball well on the left edge of the penalty area but saw his low driven shot saved by the legs of the keeper. Lucky Munemo retrieved the ball and set up Paul Stevens for a chance but his shot went wide of the post.
The second half started with Walton Casuals having more of the possession but not being able to create any clear cut chances thanks to the defending of Dan Harrison, Grant Woolger, Adam Roberts, Ryan Ralphs and Paul Nicholls. Camberley went close again just before the hour with a direct free kick from Lucky Munemo which clipped the shoulder of a player in the wall. The deflection was enough to take the ball an inch or two over the crossbar. On 65 minutes Walton Casuals got what was to be the winner. A crossfield ball was played in the middle of the park, when better options were available, and was intercepted by Joe Harrison for the hosts. A forward ball found Brad Collins who slipped the ball into the path of Matt Weston with a single touch and Weston advanced to fire a low shot past Chris Foster in the Camberley goal. Camberley attempted to level things immediately and Paul Stevens went close with a header which was just off target. Walton Casuals could have extended their lead on 72 minutes when Weston hit the crossbar with a header. Shortly after Camberley were forced to change formation slightly after Paul Nicholls picked up a leg injury and Even Tigere came on to replace him. Both teams continued to play an attacking game but the defences were getting on top as the game progressed and Walton Casuals held on to the one goal lead to progress into the next round
