Chobham (0) 0 Camberley Town (1) 3
9th September 2006 : El Records Premier Challenge Cup 2nd Round

Camberley dominated procedings to earn themselves a place in the 3rd Round of the League Cup. Camberley's first effort on goal came after 5 minutes when a Danny Ker cross was glanced goalwards by Mitch While which Stewart Freeland had to clear at the back post. Chobham had an effort on 12 minutes which fell to Jamie Synan which was struck well over the crossbar.

After a couple of half chances Camberley opened the scoring on 17 minutes. Sam Broadbent played a ball down the touchline to Mitch While, who skipped past his marker to send a deep cross to the back post for David Hancock to volley home his first senior goal for the club. Three minutes later Danny Ker went close with a shot from the edge of the penalty area which went over the bar. Chobham were still capable of giving the Camberley defence a scare and did so on 21 minutes when a long ball down the centre saw Sam Black outpace Danny Harrison to the ball but Chris Foster was out quickly to block Black's effort. Black had a second chance for a shot but Jon Holman was able to block the chance.

For the remainder of the half, the chances all went Camberley's way. On 25 minutes, Adam Galvin fired inches over the bar. Danny Ker did exactly the same three minutes later. Galvin went close again on 32 minutes forcing Chobham keeper Shane Riley to parry the ball wide. A couple of corners were forced before Danny Harrison headed tamely into the keepers arms. Within minutes Camberley went close again when Adam Galvin and David Hancock combined well down the right and the resulting cross saw Martyn Williams hit a side foot volley which the keeper somehow managed to save from point blank range. Further chances fell to Tom McGarry and Danny Harrison before the break but Camberley could not add to their total.

Camberley had two good chances early in the second half with Adam Galvin firing over and Martyn WIlliams firing at the keeper and seeing it go out for a corner. Camberley then seemed to go off the boil for a few minutes, allowing Chobham a period of pressure. The Camberley defence held firm.

Camberley regained the momentum they had previously and on 62 minutes Martyn Williams headed wide and soon after that Sam Broadbent fired into the side netting following an excellent crossfield ball from Danny Ker. We were wondering if we would ever get a second goal. It finally came on 67 minutes when David Hancock was sent away down the right wing. His cross was headed away to the edge of the penalty area where Adam Galvin struck a low shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

On 78 minutes, Camberley lost the services of the influential Danny Ker, through an injury, which was initially thought to be serious enough to request an Ambulance, but he was eventually able hobble from the field of play after 5 minutes. The break seemed to break Camberley's concentrration and Chobham almost capitalized when Greg Chowney fired across goal an inches wide of the post. Chobham had another chance soon after with Sam Black beating the offside trap but he could only find keeper Chris Foster with the shot.

Camberley went straight up the other end and won a penalty when Martyn Williams was bundled over by Chris Tapp. Williams stepped up to convert the penalty himself, firing low into the bottom left corner. Camberley should have extended their lead in the last ten minutes with further chances for Martyn Williams, Mitch While (before he was subbed) and his replacement Paul Dadson
