Camberley had a disastrous start to the game, going behind in the first minute when a hopeful ball forward saw Grant Woolger position himself to head the ball back to keeper Chris Foster but the Haywards Heath striker nipped in the steal the ball and plant it in the back of the net.
Camberley hit back and Graham Townsend almost got his name on the scoresheet when Rob Lance knocked the ball down into his path but the visiting keeper was quickly out to block at point blank range. In the 14th minute, Camberley got a deserved equaliser when Ben Cobbett's corner was cleared to the edge of the penalty area where Lindsey Strangwick first the ball home through a crowd of players. Camberley had two further great chances to extend the lead before the break. The first fell to James Goff on 20 minutes who beat the Haywards Heath offside trap, slotted the ball past the keeper but also past the post. Graham Townsend then had a chance on 34 minutes when James Goff threaded the ball through the defence to him. Townsend beat the keeper to the ball but the toe poke at goal went the wrong side of the post.
Rob Lance was played through on 47 minutes but was unable to force his shot past the keeper and on 55 minutes, clever play from James Fishlock saw him chase his own through ball but also saw his attempted lob clear the keeper but go wide of the right hand post.
The Haywards Heath keeper was lucky not to receive his marching orders on 62 minutes. Alex Jeffers played an intelligent ball through to Rob Lance who was clean through when the keeper brought him down just inside the penalty area. The referee could have let Camberley have the advantage as George Hayes followed up and slotted the ball home but he was too quick on the whistle. The referee considered the penalty punishment enough and allowed the keeper to stay on. James Goff stepped up to calmly slot the ball home from the spot and into the bottom left corner.
The lead gave Camberley confidence and on 74 minutes the third and decisive goal should have arrived. Great play on the left saw Jamie Hoppitt send George Hayes away. Hayes' cross found Rob Lance and his thumping shot was parried up in the air and forced into the back of the net by Alex Jeffers who was following up but a debatable offside flag ruled the goal out. The Camberley support did not have to wait long for the third goal which arrived with the next attack. A surging run from Strangwick saw him play a 1-2 with Alex Jeffers and get a shot in. The keeper did well to save but Strangwick followed up to divert the ball into the back of the net with his shins.
Haywards Heath visible tired after that and Camberley tore them apart on the counter attack in the 88th minute. Haywards Heath had sent most of their side forward for a free kick in an effort to get back into the match. George Hayes did superbly well to firstly block the kick and the dispossess the free kick taker. Hayes ball into midfield found Ben Cobbett and Camberley with a situation of 4 players versus 1 defender. Cobbett chose the right option and sent Alex Jeffers away to his right and Jeffers clinically slotted the ball under the advancing keeper and into the back of the net.
Camberley rubbed salt into the wound in the final minute when a well worked 1-2 between Josh McNally and Alex Jeffers saw Jeffers advance down the left and drill a low cross into the box. The ball unfortunately was deflected into his own net by one of the defenders before a Camberley player could reach the ball to make it 5-1.
